course

This course is designed for absolute beginners. Many people wish to draw and believe that you are either born a drawer or not and so give up before they have even started. I am not sure why it is that some people feel that if they can't draw a beautiful still life the first time they try, then they are a bad drawer! Would you expect to be able to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star the first time you pick up the violin? Perhaps we think we should be able to draw because we have been using pencils from childhood. Remember drawing as kids? We used to draw with no fear. Whatever the reason for not drawing as adults, drawing skills can definitely be learned.

My ethos is to provide a safe, happy, and genuinely encouraging environment in which to learn the skills and practice the techniques needed to draw. Having succesfully taught hundreds of 'non-drawers' through my UWA workshops and classes I am confident that this course will teach even YOU to draw. I specialise in catering for 'non-drawers'. All that is required is your interest - so you don't have to know how to draw to attend my classes.

Classes are run once a week for an 8 week term. They are a structured series of lessons that progressively build on each other so that skills learned are always being reinforced and practiced.

The emphasis is on 'learning to see'. Many different media are explored and each student becomes comfortable with their own drawing skills. Classes are varied and structured. Support is given to individual needs during the class. Lucy Papalia takes these classes

Minimal materials are needed and are available for purchase from my studio at very competitive prices.

Please see above for class details and contact Karen for more information.  You can book and pay now, online at sticky tickets or send us an enrolment form.
