Thanks for your interest.  The positions below have now been filled (January 2012).  However, if you are interested in teaching at The Studio in the future then we are always keen to receive resumes and hear from teachers/artists to keep their details.

Karen Frankel Art Studio is often on the look-out for teachers for both children and adults.  In 2012 we are looking for dynamic and experienced art teachers or artists.

Our teachers are required to design and develop lessons incorporating various media and skills.  As a private school we have the luxury of working on exciting projects without needing them to fit with curriculum guidelines or to assess the students.  Karen Frankel Art Studio has earned a reputation not only for excellent art tuition, but also for providing a positive, encouraging and creative atmosphere.  Although teaching art is our primary concern, the students also benefit from the social interaction with each other.  We often exhibit students' work and in May 2011 we held an installation exhibition at the YMCA Headquarters gallery organised by Rose Skinner.  Innovative ideas are encouraged and Karen enjoys working with teachers and taking opportunities.

In late 2012 we intend having an exhibition and sale of adult work.

Childrens' after school and Saturday class

The age groups are somewhat  flexible to suit particular personalities and levels of talent.  We run the after school program usually for a 9 or 10 week term according to the school calendar.  There is also some scope for adding more classes.  We require a teacher for a Thursday afternoon time slot for  ‘Kids’ Art’ ages 8 to 13 -   3.45pm to 5.00pm and 5.15pm to 6.30pm and ‘Teen Art’ ages 12 and up - Saturday 11.00am to 12.30pm. Each class has a maximum of 12 students.

We are also open to introducing holiday workshops as we get many enquiries for these sessions.

Adult watercolour and acrylic evening and daytime classes

Our current fantastic teachers are cutting down their hours next year and so we now have the opportunity to introduce more enthusiastic artists and teachers to the Studio.

The adult classes run on an 8 week term which begins with the school term.  Teachers are responsible for developing a teaching plan which will enable new students and more experienced students to both benefit from the classes.  Karen is happy to work with someone in doing so.  While teaching experience is desirable it is not an absolute pre-requisite.  We require a Watercolour teacher for Tuesday evenings from 7.00 to 9.30pm and an Acrylics teacher on Monday mornings, 10.00am to 12.30pm and Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 7.00 to 9.30pm.  We try to keep the Acrylic class to a maximum of 8 students while the Watercolour classes have a maximum of 12 students.

We would love to develop a relationship with our new teachers and hope that they will continue to teach with us for an extended time.  These positions are to begin on January 30th 2012.

Please feel free to pass this information to anyone you feel might be interested.

Please contact  Karen for further information or send a letter letting us know of your experience and interest.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
